Recognition and Model Variations:

In September 1960 a newly styled coupe became available, but it was not produced in quantity until February 1961. The convertible appeared in September 1961. These are distinguished by the twin vertical round headlights on all coupes and convertibles. The body styles of the convertible and coupe were more modern - the rear fins were eliminated and the edge slightly rounded - and these cars were much more luxuriously equipped. These make great driving collector cars ­ not just garage queens. These were the last of the truly hand built Mercedes automobiles and are sure to appreciate in the future.
