123 300TD Wagon SVO bracket kit

We have received many emails as to why we don't offer a dual tank SVO conversion kit for a 123 300TD wagon. Installing an efficient and practical dual tank conversion in a wagon is challenging to say the least. The first big issue is the design and location of the factory fuel tank. It is located below the rear floor and is fairly narrow in height. To install a heated sump at the level of the tank outlet requires some very special component mounting brackets. The second issue is where to install the second tank. Putting a tank in the back of the wagon reduces hauling space and creates fuel smell and spill problems. Yes, even veggie can smell bad over time. Some have chosen to put a very small tank in the engine compartment for purging and startup, but you just end up having to fill it all the time.

Because of the second issue we choose to operate our personal wagons on an advanced single tank system. When the weather gets cold around here (and yes it does get cold in the Pacific Northwest) we opt to add diesel or biodiesel to the SVO to thin it out. When the weather drops into the low 20's we just switch to run on straight diesel or biodiesel. We feel this is much easier than dealing with the second tank. When our deluxe STC is installed with boost heat chamber, heated fuel path, coolant heated filter, dual heat sump chamber, and electric boost fuel pump - single tank operations on 100 percent straight vegetable oil can be pushed down close to freezing.

Due to the costs and time involved we can not economically offer a complete 300TD system ready to install. What we can offer you is the components you need to install one yourself. Installation will require more than beginner mechanical skills. You will need to do minor fabrication, component modification and interpolate the instructions to fit the specific requirements of your station wagon.

The key to our 123 wagon conversion is the custom mount bracket assembly pictured here. This will allow you to mount a fuel tank sump heater and a fuel boost pump at the tank outlet level. This will not work with the 1987 300TD. We are the only company to offer a practical solution to 123 wagon conversions. This bracket comes only with mounting instructions - no conversion instructions included. To get complete conversion instructions you must order the components listed below. Along with the custom mount bracket assembly listed here you will also need to order the following:

Here is a list of the required components you will need to order if you operate your wagon where temperatures get down to freezing and below:

1. STC 100 kit - this will give you all the components you will need to build and mount our BMFM in the engine compartment. If you have a 1985 model you will end up with space problems due to the location of the hydraulic pump reservoir. You may have to move the window washer tank and install a smaller after-market unit. 2. DTC Short Upgrade Kit - since you do not need the fuel source switching valve or the secondary tank- ordering this short kit will meet most of your needs. You will not need the oversized tank outlet hose and valve included in this kit for your wagon - but you may be able to use it for the filtering and pumping station. This kit provides you with an insulated heated fuel path and hot coolant to heat the fuel sump chamber. CLICK HERE to order DTC kit.

3. Electric Sump Duo Heater Unit - This will add electric heat to the sump along with the coolant heat. This will allow for rapid heating (less than one minute) of the fuel in the sump on cold mornings. This is very important for getting the thick oil moving up to the engine compartment. CLICK HERE to order electric heat add-on kit.

4. Electric Boost Fuel Pump - Due to the small outlet size of the wagon tank an electric boost fuel pump is a MUST for efficient operation. The pump not only helps to increase fuel flow, fuel pressure, horsepower, and filter life - it also greatly aids in the removal of air from you fuel system after filter changes.
