DEFINITION: This kit is required to upgrade an existing Mercedessource STC 100 and STC 1000 conversion to a cold weather dual tank operation.  These components can be used for both Single and Dual tank conversions when you need to operate in colder weather. The main purpose of this kit is twofold. 1. It will add coolant heat throughout the system to allow the vegetable oil to flow easier to the engine. 2. It will give you the option to add a second diesel tank for startup and purging during cold weather.

I call this a SHORT Upgrade kit because  IT IS NOT a complete kit by itself and it does not include everything you will need. There are only a few items you will have to obtain on your own. We deliberately leave some items out to make it easier for your to customize to your own requirements. If you are converting to dual tank operation (DTC) you will need to find and purchase a fuel switching valve, the second fuel tank, and dash mount switches. Most of the other items you need to purchase (see detailed list below) are available at your local auto parts and hardware stores.

APPLICATION
: This kit is intended for those who have or are buying one of our standard STC kits. It can be purchased at the same time as the STC 100 or 1000 or added later if and when you decide you want more heat or want to convert to dual tanks . This upgrade kit can be mounted or adapted to any Mercedes diesel 115, 123, 116, 126, 201 or 124 chassis sedan or coupe. 220D 240D 300D 300CD 300SD 190D 300SDL. DTC UPGRADE PERFORMANCE. If you want all weather dual tank operations, this kit will allow you to install a second fuel tank (not included) for diesel or biodiesel fuel. This allows you to purge your system of SVO at shut-down, start up on diesel on cold mornings before switching, run on straight diesel when it gets super cold, and have a redundant (back up) fuel system should you have problems with the SVO system (most often plugged filters).

The following components are included in the full purchase price. Each component is also available separately. This is intended to allow those who have already done one conversion to purchase individual components at a cost savings since instructions are not needed. PLEASE keep in mind if you do buy individual components that complete instructions are not included.

ASSEMBLY IS REQUIRED: This is a builders kit and requires assembly on your part. You will have to assemble the sump heater with the parts and sealant supplied using a pipe and a large crescent wrench. A bench vise is preferred but not required.  The fuel and coolant hoses will need to be bundled and wrapped and installed under your car along the path of your existing fuel lines. Once the sump is mounted you will have to connect the hoses as outlined in detail in the instructions. And finally, for DTC operations you will have to set up your second tank in the trunk, connect the coil filter heater, mount the switching valve in the engine compartment, mount your dash switch(es) and make final connections before initial bleeding and startup.You will need to obtain your extra components and then plump and wire the hose and electrical connections. This installation takes intermediate  mechancal skills. The ability to engineer and improvise as well as a knowledge of automotive electrical wiring is required.

To complete this kit you will need to purchase or have on hand the following (DTC requirements are marked):

  • Electric switching fuel source two way valve of your choice ($60 to $100) (DTC)
  • Hose clamps to connect fuel hose connections
  • Fittings, wire, hoses and clamps to install fuel source switching valve (DTC)
  • Remote switch or switches to control switching valve and other functions you desire (DTC)
  • Secondary fuel tank of your choice ($20 to $300) (DTC)
  • Hoses, valves and clamps to hook up your secondary fuel tank. (DTC)
  • Misc hardware and fittings not included in the kit
  • Hand bulb primer pump - needed if you don't have an electric boost fuel pump installed
