i have a 72 220d want to put stc, your ready to install stc is mostly for 123,you state 115 chassis is difficult because of battery.can one put filter-vfm on passenger side of engine bay and route longer hose to ip pump etc with insulation on hose.is that the major stumbling block? do you recommend specific insulation on hose?
also does veg oil remaining in engine at shutdown cause coking with cold start in the morning?
Fuel filter.
STC 1000 / 2000 will not fit
72 220d
It certainly can be done
The STC 1000 comes with all the components correctly aligned to the chassis it is built for with all fittings pointing in the correct directions and all hoses pre-cut and attached with the proper lengths to hook up to the factory fuel lines and engine. The instructions are also specific to the 116, 123 and early 126 chassis diesels.
If you choose to install it in a 115 chassis you will most likely have to remove all the hoses, then remount some of the components to proper orientation, modify the brackets and cut new hoses to route to your engine and factory lines. Since the instructions will not apply specifically you will have to interpolate. If you decide you want to go this route you could purchase extra bio-spec hose with the kit to make sure you have enough. We have it (5/16) in 8 foot lengths - one of these should be enough.
