This kit will allow you to remove your dash instrument cluster without having to remove any panels under the dash. You can do it all while sitting in your drivers seat. Specific instructions for each chassis model (see title) are included along with the special removal tools. As an added bonus we are including four of the larger size clear dash bulbs and four of the smaller size clear indicator bulbs at no extra charge. These bulbs are used on the back of your cluster for dash lights, warning lights and indicator lights.
Please NOTE: The manual is not a detailed guide on how to repair every component in your instrument cluster. (In most cases it is often best to just replace them with new or used units or send them out for overhaul.) The manual does show you how to successfully remove your cluster without damage and replace common problem parts. There are some tips on how you can improve dash light dimmer functions. I even include some tips on what you can do if your engine instruments are jumping around. I can not guarantee success in fixing jumping gauges in all instances but it is worth trying some things outlined in the manual before you replace expensive instruments.
WARNING: 107 SL Owners: In most cases you will need to remove the steering wheel to get the instrument cluster out. This manual DOES NOT cover the removal of the steering wheel or the disconnect of the air bag on 1986 to 1989 models. You will need to refer to the factory manual for that information.
The manual is 25 pages long and contains over 50 pictures with clear explanations. There are individual short sections on each chassis covering each of the different chassis models mentioned above. Below is a sample picture from the manual. You will need to know what to properly disconnect before completely removing the cluster.
