Hi. Wanted to get your idea on why I would be getting abnormal tire wear on the inside of BOTH tires. I do have some steering play which I attribute to needing either new idler arm bushings, which I just ordered or perhaps in need of a reconditioned steering box. However, I can't see this causing the inside of both tires to wear. Is it possible the camber is set too far somehow? Thoughts?
Thanks
Dave

Recommend front end alignment check
Hi Dave, I suggest you take it to a good front end alignment shop. There could be a number of things causing the problem. They will inspect and report back to you the problem or problems with a list of what parts need replacing. Kent
thanks Kent.
Not that I didn't come up with going to my alignment guy, but it was indeed helpful to re-enforce. i went today and he pointed out the center link had play which I had missed, but probably would have figured out once I got into the tie rods which I found needed replacing in addition to the idler arm bushing. Either way, probably saved me lots of time. unfortunately I don't want to spend the time or money on a refurbed steering box which I also need, but that is probably going to be next if I end up keeping my 240D.
P.S. Just one last thing. I can't believe that the mechanic i first had do some front end work a few years ago obviously didn't do much for the 1900.00 I paid him. I realize now I could have done nearly everything he did myself, plus he overcharged me for all the parts. For that same 1900.00 I think I could have nearly put new parts on everything in the car myself including that steering box I need and had money left over. Well, you live and learn i guess.
thanks again.
