Kent has been working a long time to find a way to stop the ugly corrosion on aluminum and magnesium engine parts. Particularly valve covers and intake manifolds.

When working on automotive engines a long heavy machinist straight edge is a must. This is the best way to tell if the mating surfaces are flat and true. That includes cylinder heads, engine blocks, intake and exhaust manifolds as well as critical sealing metal to metal covers and housings. 

I am throwing in the wires for free, so please, no complaints. They work and are not all the same color, but you could use them if you ever need to replace one wire. The two wire holders for the valve covers are also included from free.

New tensioner as shown. No specific instructions are available but this can be installed from outside the engine once you get access the the hold down bolts.

Most of the older 450 engine fan clutches are still original on most of the older unrestored V8 models from 1970 to 1980. If you are having problems with your 450 V8 running hot check the friction in your clutch. They are often worn out as they seem to never get changed.

These are high quality German brand filters. Since mose of these cars are not driven regularly Kent recommends an oil change every 5000 miles or 2 years whichever comes first ( using quality oil) and a fuel fitler change every 10,000 miles or 2 years whichever comes

Why do you need to do this?  Valve clearances are supposed to be adjusted on these early V8s every 10,000 miles. You can imagine why this does not get done! Add to the fact owners can not find the right information or tools and it makes neglect even worse Why not on later model years?

Kent modified this puller and developed a procedure to remove the front crank seal race so the job could be affordable from the DIY mechanic. This costs less than half the cost of the factory tool.

Do not let anyone convince you to install some super platinum, iridium or kryptonite spark plug in your old Benz. They are just not capable of handling the richer fuel mixtures associated with these older engines.

When changing the front crank seal on your older 6 cylinder Mercedes you may or may not need to replace the sealing race that goes on over the front of the crankshaft.

Two new wing nuts. These have wider wings so they are easier to loosen and tighten. Replace the nut that most people install after the wing nut has been lost!

This is the hose on the left side of your engine that seems to always rot and leak power steering fluid. If you look closely at it you will most likely see small cracks in the hose. This is the larger size hose used on those early models with power steering from the early 1960's through 1976.

For a number of maintenance operations, you need to be able to turn the engine over by hand. This includes valve adjustment, timing chain replacement, injection pump timing on diesel engines, checking and setting internal engine timing, draining the torque converter, and others.

If you own a Mercedes with the M117 V8 engine timing chain failure can really ruin your day! If the engine it turning at high speed when this happens, it can destroy the engine. If it happens at low speed, you may get away with removing the heads and replacing some bent valves.
