An annoying problem on many older Mercedes up to 1980 that have an aluminum housing surrounding the turn signal arm latching assembly. When these wear out the lever will not hold position when you push it up or down. So every time you have to signal a turn you end up having to hold the lever down with your left hand! Most shops will have you replace the unit and it is very expensive. On some models new ones are no longer available. Kent will show you how to fix this yourself using a dremel tool. You will need a dremel type grinding tool with a very small grinding bit to complete the repair. No other cost and only takes 20 to 30 minutes.
Product Details
This repair can be done without removing the turn signal assembly completely from the car. If the mechanism is broken or housing cracked then the unit is not repairable using Kent's method.
WARNING: If your assembly housing is made out of plastic then this procedure will not work. If you have a 1980 and newer model remove and inspect before purchasing this video.
Related Repair Details NOT included: Does not explain how to unplug and remove the wiring harness under the dash. This is straightforward after removing the lower dash panel. Video does not explain how to repair a unit that is broken - only ones that are excessively worn.
