Banjo fittings are commonly used on older Mercedes fuel systems and transmissions. They are easy to install and to align - preventing the type of cross threading that is typical of straight line threaded fittings.

When removing and replacing a banjo fitting it is of course best if you can replace the aluminum or copper sealing washers on each side of the banjo head.
