When you are jacking up the front of your Mercedes for service work, you want to make sure you are jacking on a point that won't damage the car and won't allow the jack to "slip off." When you support the car for safety with a jack stand you also want that placed in a location that can support the weight of the car safely. And... you need to be careful to not scrape off any underbody paint or coating in the process. If you do that will quickly lead to rust that can grow into a bigger problem in the future.
