When checking your existing fuel delivery system, you may need to remove the plastic shroud for a better look. The key is spotting the "T" with a small-diameter hard fuel line coming off the line between the filter and the accumulator. Look at the pictures below to compare. This system used a small fuel system compensator, which is not found on any other fuel delivery system. It was no longer used after 1980. You most likely will find it on the 1979 to 1980 280SE, 280SEL, 450SEL, and the 450SL convertible.

Also will work on (some but not all) 1976 to 1980 280SE, 280SEL, 280SL and 280E. Brand new aftermarket fuel accumulator for the 1976 to 1985 V8 engines. It is mounted near the fuel filter under the back end of the car and hardly ever gets replaced.

There is only one of these, and it is so rare that we may not see another. Both parts are no longer available new, and pressure-compensating valves are in high demand. The compensating valve has been opened up and inspected and is in good condition.
