1982 300d auto tran. electrical switch issue, won't start, help!

I just replaced rear transmission mount and installed new transmission linkage bushings with your kit. All went great! I had to remove electrical female 4 pin connector from drivers side to help with access. After reassembly, it will not start, just a click from some relay or starter solenoid. After many hours of troubleshooting, without the exact body manual, I found out that if I jumper the hot pin hole on the connector with 2 others at the same time it will start, so I am concluding that there is some issue with the male pin connector or switch on the transmission but am dumbfounded as to how that can be. I can connect it electrically and manipulate the linkage to shift the transmission around thru every positon and gear...nothing. I am getting very frustrated. Can anyone provide any experience here or advice? I am ready to make a bonfire out of it. Thanks, Steve
