I recently replaced my air cleaner bracket which required disconnecting and reconnecting the oil line from the top of the turbo. After reassembling everything, the turbocharger leaked oil. There's a paper gasket where the oil line meets the turbo, and I didn't know I'd have to replace it if I ever disconnect the oil line. I got a new one from a local M-B dealer, partnumber A 603 187 05 80, but it's the wrong size. I tried to use the gasket anyway by making cuts in the gasket, but I doubt it is sealed well or will last very long. Most sources for this gasket are kits, like the Mercedes Source kit, that include all of the turbocharger gaskets in one package. It makes no sense to buy that (costly) kit when I only need to service the air cleaner, and I may need to do that fairly often because of the fragility of the air cleaner bracket. I need a source for turbo gaskets, just the oil line gasket.
My question is this: should I try to make my own gaskets out of generic gasket materials? Or is there some other source for the correct gasket for my 617.950 turbo oil return?
