On my drive in to work in my WVO-powered 1983 300D-T this morning, I had been driving on the freeway for just about 5 minutes or so and all of a sudden the car started losing power! I was worried that the transmission was giving for a moment, since that's been a "watch" item, but the revs didn't shoot up like a typical "flare". The guts just went away and the engine was not spooling up. But the engine didn't quite die... Nervously, I stomped the accelerator for a moment and it seemed to "fight through it" and the power charged back, and right then a curious thing happened... The fuse carrying the tachometer blew out right when the car came back to life as if there was a surge. Related? No? Hmmm. So... I'm not sure whether I should be looking at fuel delivery, or if I should be looking at the alternator instead. Any ideas? I wanted to figure out if I need to be proactive on this. OR, could it have just been a thick/cold pocket of grease that made it through to the injector pump and it's nothing serious??? (That would be nice, eh.) Let me know if there's any other info that would help figure it out... Thanks!
