I'm going to try this question again. My 79 240D just got a new (used but better than it had) engine.
The engine starts good when cold (20 degrees now) and has good power for it's age.
I'm running Schaeffers 9000 series 10/30 synthetic. Had good luck with this oil in other diesels we own including old dodge cummins, and our new 09 volks 2.0 tdi.
And maybe what it's doing is no big deal, but it doesn't seem right.
When first started up cold it takes about 5 seconds for the oil pressure to show. Then it's just fine from then on. After it heats up at idle it drops to about 2.5 bar. Just like our 87 300D does.
Is there an anti-drainback valve in the oil filter assembly that could be malfunctioning.?
Thanks in advance all
