My youngest son has seen the light! After his 4YO Kia Rio broke a timing belt in Nowhere, Tx. he finally figured out the old-stogey Mercedes Diesel that his dad has driven for 305,000+ miles is the way to go.
He's got mechanical skills but no garage (other than Dad's)and he's on active Duty with the AF Reserve, right now at McCord AFB but soon in Alpena, MI and then on to Charleston for several months-Germany after that.
What would you reccommend for him as a good Mercedes Diesel? Of course he'd like to have all the bells and whistles. How late can you go with a 300 TD and still be a DIY? Of your books, which would you recommend?
