New turbo charger turbine shaft and exhaust turbine wheel as shown. This part has been highly balanced and is ready for installation. INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLATION NOT INCLUDED. It is critical that the new impeller shaft nut be torqued properly and a permanent thread locker applied, to ensure the nut does not come loose! Our complete instructions are only included with the overhaul parts kit.
PLEASE NOTE: In almost half of the turbos I open up this part needs to be replaced. That ratio is much higher if the turbo has over 200,000 miles on it. The critical wear part is the shaft sealing ring grove just forward of the turbine wheel. If there is too much play in this grove the turbo will leak oil out the rear seal. See my video on turbocharger inspection for more detail CLICK HERE.
WARNING: WE HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS ORDER THIS KIT WHEN THEY HAVE A KKK TURBO. It WILL NOT work on KKK turbos. PLEASE CHECK THE TYPE OF TURBO YOU HAVE BEFORE ORDERING. There is a 15 percent restock fee if this part is returned. See picture in the description of our turbo overhaul kit to see the difference between the two turbos. If you are not sure send us pictures of your turbocharger and we will advise.
If you want to check the wear on your old shaft before ordering this new shaft bearing diameter measures .3965 inches and the grove for the sealing ring measures .061 inches ( using multiple feeler gauges to measure the width. Our instructions show how to check the side play in the rear sealing ring groove during assembly:
NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED: We do not ship instructions with this part. Complete instructions come with our 100K Service Reseal Kit.
SPECIAL NOTE ON BALANCING:
This unit is dynamically balanced at the factory. In order to do that some metal must be removed and often it is around the area of the rear bolt head. We have had a number of customers receive this part only to report that there is "something wrong with it." That is not the case. If you see and grind marks or groves in the back as in the picture below that is only due to the balancing procedure and is totally normal.
