Loud Noise/Vibration when turning - 1979 300SD ??

loudish noise when turning on my 1979 300SD at any speed.

seems to be coming from the drivers side front wheel.

newish tires and alignment. front end work done within the last 6 months.

Thoughts?

so it's a leaking power

so it's a leaking power steering pump.

i've put in new power steering fluid.
check.

ordered your ps leak kit.
check.

my indie mechanic suggested just replacing the pump. really?

Does the pump work and sound ok once you fill it up with fluid - if so no need to replace the pump just reseal it. If it still makes noise and you are sure the air has bled out of the hoses and steering box then you would need to replace the pump.
