If you have an early 722.3 transmission you are working on, his is the reseal kit you need if you have it out of the car and want to fix and/or prevent external seal leaks. Replacing these seals and O-rings is not difficult except for the B1 piston over and the shift shaft lip seal. The former will require a special press tool, and the latter will require you to remove the pan and other components on the left side of the transmission. The video included is NOT a step-by-step instruction of each seal, but it will show you the exact location of each and give you some tips for installation. Don't put a used transmission back into your older Mercedes without replacing these seals, or you will regret it.

This is one of the most common leaks we have seen on these transmissions over the past 25 years. If you are discovering big puddels of red transmission fluid on the ground at the front of the transmission I can almost guarantee it is the front pump leaking.

The B1 piston assembly is not easy to remove and then reinstall. Because of the length of the two big springs behind the cover, it takes a tool that has a lengthy throw.
722.3 B2 Piston Repair Kit
Since new B2 pistons are no longer being made, repairing your old one is your only option. The large outer sealing ring will not work with the very early piston version, which has a narrow sealing ring on the outside of the piston. Your piston MUST have the wide ring as shown.

These transmission pans get "out of shape" due to over-torquing the bolts. That crushes the stops (see below), and when that happens, it is very hard to get the pan seal not to leak. Your best option if you are doing a transmission service is to replace the pan.
