Hi I am new to the forum and am very interested in all the great resources I see available. I have one question, I have an 85 300d and just aquired a 80 240d parts car and was wondering if anyone had attempted to convert the automatic temp control system back to a manual system like the 240d has? Both rigs had A/C. thanks

I have done this swap once on a 300CD. I remember thinking what a great conversion it would make! It ended up taking 25 to 30 man hours of labor and when I was all done I said to myself - probably never do this again! You will need to remove the dash of both cars and gut everything at the back side of the firewall. You need to install the complete heater box, ducting, wires, and cables from the 240D. You can only do this with a complete 240D parts car. You have a good start. If you are patient, a good contortionist, and like a challenge go it! It does make a nice reliable conversion
