Most of the older 450 engine fan clutches are still original on most of the older unrestored V8 models from 1970 to 1980. If you are having problems with your 450 V8 running hot check the friction in your clutch. They are often worn out as they seem to never get changed.

If you think your coolant hoses are "ok" they just may be, but it is what is hidden that could be a problem. When you remove those old hoses ( unless they have been replaced in the past 10 years) you may be shocked at what you find.

I have hit my head so many times on the grill edge while working on R107 engines that I finally decided to do something about it while recently changing the fuel injectors on a 380SL.
These are high quality German brand filters. Since mose of these cars are not driven regularly Kent recommends an oil change every 5000 miles or 2 years whichever comes first ( using quality oil) and a fuel fitler change every 10,000 miles or 2 years whichever comes

These engine supply fuel hoses are critical to the well-being of your engine. I have seen too many rotten and deteriorating hoses on these D-Jet engines that could easily lead to an engine fire, and they just do not get replaced when they should.

If you are removing and replacing your M110 fuel injectors these are the seals you should have on hand. Always replace the rubber seals. I know it is possible to reuse the plastic sleeves but many times they are brittle and will be damaged upon removal.

This is every thing you need along with free video instructions by Kent Bergsma. Why change the K-jet fuel injectors in your M110 engine. One thing is they are very old. Second this is right now they are readily available and resonably inexpensive.
380 engines tend to run hot. As long as it is not too hot it won't hurt the engine but that extra heat is not kind to rubber and plastic parts.

This is a high-quality ACM aftermarket part. The fan runs smooth and air movement is very strong.
RUST FREE fuel pump bracket as shown with new rubber mounts and nuts included. This one could be plated or painted for show quality as it is not pitted.
Contamintion in the window washer fluid tank is one of the main reasons the spray nozzles get plugged up. Install this little fitler somewhere in the line between the pump and the nozzles on the hood and secure with zip ties.
This is a critical replacement part. If it lets loose at high speed it can damage your transmission and drive line. Just replace if over 20 years old! Bolts not included. Plan to use your old ones.
This is a part that hardly ever gets changed, and it is an easy DIY job if you can access it under your Benz. Make sure your model fits those described and has an O2 sensor installed. You can confirm that by the existence of an o2 sensor warning light on your dash.
This fits all Mercedes V8 engines listed in the title from 1981 to 1991 including the sedans, the SL and SEC models. I compare fan clutches to shock absorbers. They wear out slowly over time and you don't feel or see the difference until you actually replace it with new.
These are very high quality bolts. Same 8mm thread and small 10mm head as the originals. 8 is enough for two front seats.

This custom-made thin head wrench by Kent Bergsma can save the day and your pocketbook. It is very important that you hold the fitting base on the oil cooler when removing the oil cooler hoses. A regular 22mm wrench is almost always too thick and can also cause damage.
