Great to carry in trunk for emergencies. Nice case. No instructions included with this kit.
This kit includes:
Does a 79 300SD have a pressure switch on the tailshaft of the transmission. I have an extra wire hanging from the kick down switch and was told there is supposed to be a pressure switch.
Good used fan clutch. Fits all models that use the 5 blade aluminum fan. Will not work with the multi-blade nylon fans.
This is one cool pre or final protection fuel filter. I have been looking for something like this for a long time. Not only is it all metal, just the right size, has a 60 micron large cleanable screen, but it can be taken apart by hand... and that is certainly a big plus when you are out on the road faced with a plugged-up filter!
This question could well be the number one request we receive from new customers. The question seems to be popping up frequently now as many people are buying these old diesels for the first time hoping to convert them to run on alternative fuel. It is a great idea and can be a rewarding endevour IF you find the right car to begin with and are willing and able to repair it yourself.
CELEBRATE YOUR INDEPENDENCE! Kent has packaged together four of his most popular signature series products that will allow you to service, overhaul and tune your diesel fuel injectors yourself. All together these are key to helping you understand how your fuel injectors work, how to inspect and clean them, how to install new performance Monark injector nozzles, and how to balance tune them for maximum power and fuel effeciency.
These include the following items: Click on each one to read more.
Fuel Injector Pressure Bench Tester (designed and built by Kent Bergsma)
Diesel Injector Cleaning and Testing Procedures (manual written by Kent Bergsma
Running badly means poor performance. It happens sooner or later to EVERY diesel owner. The word "performance" is often used to describe how well a diesel engine runs once started. The principles discussed will cover all Mercedes diesels from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s. Throughout this manual I will use this word to discuss a number of common problems. How performance is rated can mean different things to different people. In the following pages I will relate diesel performance to the following four criteria:
• How much power does it produce?
• What kind of fuel economy does it deliver?
• How smooth does the engine run?
• How much does the engine smoke?
These thin shim washers can be added to an existing injector shim to meet the thickness required to increase release pressure. Buy using a thicker shim along with 1 to 3 thin shims you will be able to make a number of different thicknesses within the 0,20 mm range. This kit contains six each of thin 0,20 mm washers.
These thin shim washers can be added to an existing injector shim to meet the thickness required to increase release pressure. Buy using a thicker shim along with 1 to 3 thin shims you will be able to make a number of different thicknesses within the 0,10 mm range. This kit contains six each of super thin 0,10 mm washers
If you are adjusting your injectors and your pressure reading is low you may only have to add one or two of the thin washers to bring the pressure up to spec. If your pressure reading is too high you will need to go down in thickness by choosing a think shim you have available and adding 1 or 2 thin (or any multiple you like) ones to build the thickness required. We also supply thin washer sets in 0,05 and 0,20 mm sizes.

One of the more challenging aspects of adjusting the release pressures on your diesel fuel injectors is finding the exact thickness shim washer you need to make the proper spring pressure adjustment. If you try to do it with just one shim per injector you end up needing a large assortment of all sizes of shims ranging from 0,80 mm to 1,95 mm. And knowing Murphy’s law all too well, you will end up needing the shim size that you do not have.
You are looking at the worlds first production diesel mechanical fuel injector bench tester available in the U.S. for under $200. Kent has just completed the first two production runs and is hard at work increasing production to meet the demand. These new testers will allow you to economically test the spray pattern and fine tune (balance) your fuel injectors at home. With the injector fitting included it will work on all Mercedes diesels from the early 1960's up to 1993. It will also work on any mechanical Bosch type fuel injector with adjustable pressure release function - altough you may have to come up with your own adapter to attach the injector to the tester.
The injector heat shield washers on a diesel engine must be replaced anytime you remove your fuel injectors. These fit 240D, 300D, 300TD, 300CD, 300SD 1974 to 1985. CLICK HERE to view our nozzle kits.
