Using an inexpensive code reader or scan tool is not difficult

If your check engine light comes on you don't need to panic! The problem may be very minor and should not prevent you from driving the car until you can get it fixed. If you know how to use a simple OBDII code reader or scan tool you can put your mind at ease and sometimes save a few hundred or even a few thousand dollars!
