Walbro WVO boost pump location ('82 300D)

I was wondering... Is there any big reason the Walbro boost pump for WVO available on this site [http://www.mercedessource.com/node/2133] couldn't be mounted in the engine compartment, perhaps on the driver's side inner fender for easy maintenance access since there's room there? This car is my 1982 300D. I was thinking about setting it up there on the inner fender, with the easier access afforded, to pull the veggie fuel right out of the hardline as it comes fore and send it on its boosted way to the heated filter (a Vormax unit I scored used out of a wreck for insanely cheap).

1975 240D Relocate Battery to Trunk

I need to relocate my battery to the trunk of my 1975 240D so I can install the Electric Fuel Boost Heater close to the injection pump.

I'm trying to install the Electric Fuel Boost Heater. I went through a lot of work making mounting brackets and a plate but in a nutshell it doesn't work. It vibrates too much, and I'm afraid the vibration will danmage the thermostat of the EFBH. I made the mistake of relocating my orginal fuel filter and mounting the EFBH to the fuel filter mount. I think I'm better off to relocate my battery so the EFBH will be attached to the car body and not the engine.

My questions are:

1)Where is the best place to drill a hole in the trunk for the battery cables?

White Smoke at Idle on WVO ('81 300D non-turbo)

I've been running WVO for three years without too much smoking. Now I have lots of white smoke at idle and low speeds after commute home from work. I've noticed this only in the evenings on my way home and not on my way to work, even though the conditions are very similar. This started a little after replacing the injectors with Monarchs that were professionally pressure tested. The other correlation is the recent onset of cold temps around 40-50F. A few other pieces to the puzzle:

1975 240D Relocate Fuel Filter

Hi,

I need to know the size of a fuel hose.

It's the clear fuel hose that returns fuel from the injector pump to the top of the fuel filter. The barb connection on top of the fuel filter and the banjo/barb fitting on the back side of the I.P.looks to be slightly smaller the the other banjo/barb fittings on the fuel filter. I have 5/16 hose on all my other banjo fittings and would think it would be the same size, but it looks smaller.

1982 300D Engine Knocking After Injector Cleaning

Hi Everyone,

I just finished fixing one problem only to get myself into another :-). I tried to install some of the new monark nozzles from mercedessource. I tried to be very careful and clean when reassembling the injectors after replacing the nozzles and thoroughly lapped all the mating surfaces with fine sand paper as described in the guide.

One thing I was not able to figure out is how to remove the old crush washers from the engine to replace them with new ones. Because of this I left them there. Any tips on how to remove these would be much appreciated as they seem pretty stuck in there and there were no hints in the manual I received.

1985 300D Loosing power on WVO

I recently did the conversion to WVO with the mercedessource kit and things were going well. As I started adding more WVO to the tank and got up to around 90% WVO and 10% Diesel I noticed the engine starting to hestitate after running it for 10-25 minutes. It began by hesitating at 75 on the freeway, every five minutes it would get worse and worse until finally I could only get the car up to 25. The filters looked fine so I tried adding 5 gallons of diesel fuel and the problem started to go away as the diesel got mixed in, acceleration came back.

1975 240D Auxillary Fuel Pump Veggie Oil

I installed the mercedessource auxillary fuel pump 3 years ago, works great. Just got car back from mechanic and now the pump is constanly clicking every half second to one second. Like it's not building up pressure.(He should not have been anywhere near the pump or wires) Before it would click fast until it built up pressure then slow down to one click every 1-2 seconds. No leaks, so fuel is not being pumped out. Car runs fine but the pump isn't performing like before. What should I to look for?

300sdl wvo conversion location

Can anyone who has mounted the FM 100 filter/circuit boss on their 300sdl please post a few pictures of where and how they mounted it? i am tempted to mount it closer to the firewall than most conversions that is have seen. I am considering mounting it to the engine side of the divider toward the midline of the fuse box (right in front of the steering column.)

are there any problems accessing any other vital parts if the system when mounted in any particular spot? Any help would be welcome.
