i am looking to purchase a 1984 300 td wagon that supposedly needs a new transmission...the owner says a month ago it was rocking, great acceleration and power, no signs of wear...then one day, going up hill, the transmission in an instant started having issues..she discovered the transmission fluid was almost all gone...she then added 4 quarts and overfilled it, drove on it for a couple of weeks and had all sorts of transmission issues...brought it to a mechanic who cleaned the fluid and adjusted the transmission and 3 weeks oast with it working ok... until now, when the vehicle is put in drive or reverse, it doesn't move (in reverse the reverse lights come on)...i am looking to either buy this and repair the transmission or maybe buy it for parts...any thoughts on the transmission, could it be reparable?...thanks so much...
