do you have any easy suggestion on removing heater motor on a 1973 300 sel 109 chassis

have a 1973 Mercedes 300SEL 109 chassis and trying to find an easy way to get heater motor & heater core out of vehicle. If you have any suggestion please e mail this is our own personal car. A S A P thanks

Sorry, afraid there is no easy way

I have done this job on 108/109 chassis about 20 times over the past 10 years and I do not want to do it any more :-). In fact I personally own a 300SEL 3.5 as part of my fleet and just hope the heater motor keeps working. There is an old joke floating around about the 108/109 chassis (primarily from old time mechanics). It goes like this - when they started production on the assembly line the first item they hung on the assembly track was the heater blower motor. As it moved down the line they assembled the remainder of the car around it!

The entire heater box assembly has to come out from under the dash. That requires removal of many of the components on and behind the dash, as well as ducting, cables, wires and A/C components under the dash. The last thing to be removed after the heater box assembly is out of the car is the blower motor. Not fun. Sorry to be the bearer of such bad news during the holiday season.....
