'83 300SD Cigar Lighter

The cigar lighter in my 300SD doesn't work. I plugged in my iTrip adapter for my iPod and it isn't getting power. I'm not sure if I have to replace the Cigar Lighter unit or if it's just a short. If I have to replace the unit, where can I find one??? I've looked all over online. -tom

Hi Tom, I assume you already checked your fuses. If not, do that first. If all your old aluminum fuses appear to be corroded then replace them all with our upgraded brass and copper fuses. CLICK HERE to see our fuse replacement kit. These fuses do not corrode in the holders!

It is possible that the wiring plug to the lighter has come off or was not put on properly. You will need to remove the ashtray assembly to inspect. Check for power at this plug. If you have power to the plug and no power on the lighter contacts then you may have excess corrosion on the plug contacts. If no power at the plug then you have a wiring problem to seek out!!!
