1984 300D Throttle linkage ball and sockets

Hi all. Getting reay to adjust the valves for the first time and I am going to take pictures of the linkage and everything else to make sure it goes back the same way. Does anyone know the easiest and most efficient method to getting the linkage out of the way yet keep most of it together to minimize the work.
This leads to another question concerning the lubication of the ball and sockets. I have purchaced a few of the sourcelets and instuctionals and can see in Kent's pictures that the ball and sockets are separated as he lubes them. How on earth do these come apart and then re-afix securely? I have wrenched some American cars and there is a "slide clip" that can be retracted to allow the ball to be released from the socket. I see nothing like that on my Benz. Do they all come apart? Some?

Any help would be appreciated.
