I have an oil leak on my 1984 300D Turbo in the area of the turbo oiler pipe behind the motor, below the valve cover gasket. I am just now seeing it since the engine was covered in oil and I have washed it down several times and have finally found the originating point of the leak. Unfortunately it is tough to pinpoint exactly since that are is so tight. The oils is dripping down the rear of the engine and on to the transmission. Is it common that the pipe may have sprung a leak from chafing in that area or is it possibly something else? It is definitely not the valve cover gasket. I can see that much. Any help would be appreciated.
