I have an issue with my daily driver. It is starting to get cold here in New England and would like to solve as quickly as possible. I am pretty handy mechanically but eletrical problem solving is not my forte so hopefully someone else can suggest some things to look at.
I noticed my blower motor does not work so looked at the fuses and the fuse in circuit 8 in the fuse box was blown. The fuse is labeled as a 25A fuse. I replaced it and it blew right away again. After this I checked the motor, removed it and hooked it to a small battery and it ran great. I then started to dig a bit deeper and checked the climate control unit as these are somewhat tempermental. I noticed after breaking the rebuilt warning seal that one of the circuits was totally fried and had melted the circuit board so I definitely need a new one of these. However, when I put in a new fuse with everything disconnected, including the AC compressor the fuse still blows. This has me worried that the climate unit blew for another reason.
My question is this - if all the components are disconnected, the fuse should not blow if everything else is ok right? Is there something else in this circuit that I am missing that might be causing the fuse to blow? (I do not have a good diagram, only the Chiltons manual) If there is nothing else to remove and the fuse is still blowing does this mean that there is a short in the wiring somewhere and if so, how does one find it in the birdsnest of wires?!
Also does anyone have a clear electrical circuit diagram they could give me?
Thanks for your help.
