77 300D Engine Transplant options

recently, my 1977 300D W123 diesel engine seized. Ive come across a 1984 300SD turbo Diesel W126. Can I transplant the turbo Diesel complete into my 1977 w123. I planned to transplant the engine, transmission, and rear axel.
Will this work? The reason Why I ask is because I am not sure if there is any wiring, or vacuum lines that wont interchange, or need to be added. Please advise. Thank you for taking time to help.

There are too many subtle differences between the 123 and 126 chassis. Wiring is not the issue. They say anything can be done, but in my humble opinion it is not worth it. If you can find a 123 turbo 300D you would be much better off. Kent

I have since purchased a 300TD 1984. I have fallen in love all over again. My old 1977 300D engine seized, and I was considering a transplant. Well Not too long after I got your advise, I looked in the local paper, and found a 1984 300TD. The gentleman that I purchased it from stated that the Turbo was blown, and that it was leaking oil all over the place. So I purchased it at a good price. Turned out it only needed a valve cover gasket, and a valve adjustment. the car runs great, and It has 165,000 miles and NO-RUST. thank you again for your professional advise. Had it not been for your advise, I would be stuck right now trying to transplant an engine that would eventually not have worked. Your the best, Kent!! best regards
