First,I want to say thanks to Mercedes source for the ability to learn everything about these great cars and giving me the know-how to do all my own work. Truly priceless.
On my 1985 300TD W123 chassis the spare tire compartment has fuel leaking inside. Upon inspection it's coming from the 3 rubber hoses that connect to the hard lines coming and going to the tank, their old an need replacing. They connect to a part that's unknown by me and replacement as near as I can tell would require removing this plastic part they all feed into to gain access. Could you tell me what this part is? And one concern I have is that upon inspecting with my hands one of the hoses appeared to have snapped off behind unknown part. I fed the snapped off end of the hose into a clear bottle and for a week not that much fuel has appeared inside. More diesel is coming from the weeping hoses. Any help would would be appreciated, Thank you.
