This is one of the most often neglected services I see on the M272 engine. Even at 100,000 miles, you often see the tank has never been changed, and you can recognize that by looking to see if there is a factory crimp hose clamp still in place on the fluid return hose at the bottom of the tank. Watch the YouTube video below, and Kent will explain the entire contents of the kit and what is involved in doing this job yourself.
Product Details
The special tools and extra clamp that you see are included ( fully explained in the 30-minute video instructions). If you try to remove or replace the clip without these, you may "lose it." Get the pun? The step-by-step video instructions were filmed on a W204 chassis. You may have easier access on some other models, but the procedures are the same on all M272 V6 engines. 272273
Why do you need to replace the tank? The tank has a built-in filter, and you can not replace the filter separately. What if it is leaking? You have to remove the tank to replace the seal? Best just to replace the tank as it is not expensive. Since the filter is built into the reservoir tank, the only way to change the filter is to install a new tank. But don't follow the advice of just draining multiple times and re-adding fluid. Kent will show you how to extract the oil fluid and use the new fluid to flush the oil fluid out of the entire system. 272273
PLEASE NOTE: You will need 2 liters of the correct fluid to complete this service. You will end up with approximately 1/2 liter of fluid remaining when you complete a full fluid flush. This fluid is NOT included in this kit. It can be purchased separately below but keep in mind that will require ground UPS shipping.
