76 240d need to shut off under hood.

I recently purchased a 1976 240D and it does not shut off. I have read about the vacuum for the 77 and on with the 123 bodys. but is this different for the 74-76 115 240d's? Thanks in advance for any help. Thomas

Check Shut-off Cable

Your engine is shut down mechanically by a cable going from your pull start switch down to a fuel control lever on the injection pump. If you are turning your key off and pushing ALL the way in on the pull start knob and the engine will still not quit - then check the cable attached to the lever on the pump. It could either be broken, seized, or out of adjustment. I may have a complete used unit with cable if you need one.

Used may be your best option

A new cable may be a dealer only item. Mercedessource may have a good used one from a 75 240D. Please email sales@mercedessource.com for all your parts requests.
