Ever since I installed a Monark voltage regulator, the electrical system in my '81 240D has developed a habit that it didn't have before.
After the initial engine start, all warning or idiot lights go out as usual indicating all electrical systems functioning. However, at night I will notice that all of the lights (headlights, high beam warning, etc.) will be a bit dimmer until I drive maybe a quarter of a mile or so. Then blink!-all lights come up to the expected brightness. The initial brightness level is not brown out just noticably dimmer; the cars battery is in good condition, the belts are tight and the car is driven 100 miles a day five days a week on I-5 at highway speeds. Is this typical of this model regulator, or is it an indication of a possible pending malfunction of the regulator or alternator?
Thanks,
Mike
