MB 300SD 1982 Rear Driver side door stuck

Dear Kent,

My MB 300SD 1982 Rear Driver side door stuck - I cannot open it. Al other doors open fine. A pull-up lever doesn't move either. Is there any special trick i can fix it myself?

Is the latch assembly behind the handle stuck and not opening or do you think the locking mechanism (actuator) is stuck down keeping you from unlocking the door?

I think it's actuator.

Prior to this problem, a door check strap stuck couple of times. Is any relationship possible?

Start by unplugging the vacuum pump in the trunk by the spare tire. This will release any held vacuum. Then try to pull up on the lock. If that does not help you may have to get the door panel off to see what is going on inside the door. I know it is very hard to get the panel off with the door closed. In severe cases I have had to destroy the panel to get to the problem - then buy a replacement used panel.

I got it fixed.

Dear Kent,
I finally opened the door with no damage.
I've got your manual on MB Doors. I fixed the rust on the opposite door. This allowed me to learn more about the lock. All I had to do is to remove the cover under the pull lever.Than I pulled a pin that connected the release lever and a link to the vacuum pump. Everything took me 10 min.
