why dont you have rebuilt injectors for a 603 engine?

Couple reasons

We do this in our own shop. It is very time consuming and the demand is just not high enough for the 603 engine.

603 fuel injectors

I found a Bosch shop that will rebuild my injectors.Does your kit (item # DSL-MON 128) come with specs.i.e. balance press. etc.

Purchased in July in SC with 363,000 miles on odometer. Do not have very much information on past maintenance at all. Drove great in 100 degrees from SC to Washington DC, checked mileage at fill up in VA. and recorded 30MPG.
Known problems: No Air, radio does not work, loses coolant and my primary concern a loud knock when idling. If I increase the idle to above 1K rpm can't hear the knock.

I did a lubro moly diesel purge and while the purge was running through the engine the knock went away but came back after the completion of the purge. The lubo moly did not show real dirty, turned a light brown. The car seems to run fine.

Any suggestions as to what my problem might be and is it a real amateur DIY job?

Knock could be worn injectors

If you can change a water pump you can overhaul your won fuel injectors. It is time consuming but not rocket science. You could order and read my injector overhaul manual first to see if it is a job you would want to tackle.

From my many years of working professionally on Mercedes diesels I have learned fuel injectors are the single most neglected maintenance item. I believe there are a number of reasons for this. Partly it may be the mystery surrounding how injectors work and what needs to be done to service and repair them. Then there is the false notion that like the engine they will last forever. And finally, it can be very expensive to have a shop replace the fuel injectors. You may even have said to yourself, the engine seems to be running fine so why bother spending the money?

Will I do any harm if I continue to drive it until I rebuild the injectors?

Like I said it runs well.

Won't harm the engine

If you are certain it is the injector knocking then it won't hurt anything (but the injector nozzle) to continue driving. I recommend you add diesel fuel lubricant to your fuel to minimize wear.
