Hooking up 5/16 hose to change mineral oil in SLS on 300td

Trying to hook up hose to change fluid in SLS system on my 82 wagon. I am missing something. Cannot get nut off of line that goes into canister. Just got my fluid and filter and was hoping to do it this weekend.

Well, it you can't get the nut loose....

You may have a hard time changing the filter. You really need a flare nut wrench, or try to get hold of it with vise grips (be sure and have a wrench holding the inside threaded nipple tightly. As an alternative, if you can pull the filter out with the line still attached you can hold the cap and filter over a big dish pan to do the flush....

I just bought a hose to go over the entire nut.

Bought hose to go over the nut and that worked. Man was I glad when the fluid came thru clear. Evidently there was crud in the line as all of a sudden fluid came out in a surge. The pump is good so that is one less thing to worry about.
