84 300D to 83 300D

I'm doing an engine swap from a 84 300D Calif. to a 83 300D Calif.
It appears that the 84 has the tach sensor on the injector pump where the 83 has it on the TDC transmitter. Will the tach work properly when I change the engine?

To answer your second question, yes the injection pump with work - you just won't have anything to plug that sensor into. Refer to factory engine manual for more information on electronic controls for EGR function. If you want to get the tach the work properly you will need to remove all tach related pickup parts and sensor wire from the 83 engine and put on the 84. Good luck on the engine swap..
