'83 300TD Footrest removal

I'm having difficult removing cracked footrest. Footrest is connected to plastic kickplate with 2 plastic rivets. Kickplate seems attached to car body with a clip on the inside. I cannot remove kickplate no matter which way I pull it. Also, do I destructively remove the 2 plastic rivets holding the footrest? Do you sell new rivets? Thanks for your help.

Wondering a similar thing..

I am not sure what the "footrest" is, but ours is missing the kick panel on the drive's side. I know someone with a donor car that I can get another off, but it is connected with rivets. I was nervous to pull it off, but I went to Harbor Freight and picked up some interior pry bars for a little over $5. Maybe pick some pry bars up and try prying up from underneath. I've noticed some of the trim is just "snapped" on.

Left Kick Panel & Footrest - '83 300TD

The footrest is where the driver places his left foot. My footrest is cracked, so I'm removing it to see if I can glue it together. Because the footrest is cracked, I removed a large part of it and can place my hand behind where it attaches to the left kick panel with 2 rivets. I can pry between the footrest and kick panel, but seems that any more efort could result in cracking both the kick panel and a piece of the footrest. I then tried to remove the kick panel. I got the kick panel partially set free, but it is still held to the car frame in its center. I went over the the passenger side and was able to remove that kick panel. It was held by a center located clip which was easily removed. Back to the driver's side, I figured I'd try this forum before using dynamite.
