1987 300 SDL - getting to the auxiliary pump

I'm trying to replace the auxiliary pump and I'm having difficulty locating it between the two firewalls.

I removed the battery thinking the pump would be nearby, but all that gets me to is the monovalve. What else do I have to remove to access the pump?

Behind the false firewall

The pump is below and inward of the monovalve. To get to it you have to remove the forward of what is call the "false firewall." Poke around and you will see the center section is held in place by 4 or 6 sheet metal screws.

Thanks. That would have been easier. I removed the black box thing connected to a cable going leftward, and the metal bracket which holds that box.

Below that was three thick hoses, two of which run between the monovalve and the heater core. Removing two of these hoses exposed the pump.

It was easy then to take out the pump while still connected to the monovalve.
