Tricky Rust repair job - rear glass

I have an 82 240D and I take as much care of it as I can. I have that miracle paint and fiber glass rust repair kit so I even try to fix the rust where I can. However, there is a spot of rust coming out from under the rubber weather stripping on the rear windshield. Capillary action has draw watter all along the seal so now there is a huge line of rust along the metal where the rubber seal on the rear wind shield meets the metal. I'd like to try to fix this rust myself but I don't want to start something if I can't finish it. So my question is this: To fix this rust, would I have to remove my rear windshield? If so, is such a feat possible and what would I need( special tools, hardware, etc.) to get the job done? Would it be cheaper to take it to the body shop? Thanks in advance, Grey
