odometer not workin any ideas

I have a 1981 300D and the odometer is not working. Any ideas as to how I might fix it or where I can have it fixed? Ay help would be appreciated.

I notice from your other post that you're in my neck of the woods. A number of people whose opinions I trust and own classic Benzos have taken their cars for odometer and general gauge cluster restoration/repair to this place in Palo Alto. Also the guys at the independent A&F Imported Parts (and whatever their "sister" service center is called) in Oakland recommended the same place to me, so I figure there's a pattern there... I have repaired 2 of these odometers. It isn't a hard job, but you must be careful. I have one from my parts car out and need to repair it so I can install it into my coupe. The main thing you need to do is carefully remove the shaft that holds the main set of numbers. Take a razor blade and lightly scuff/notch the shaft under the main drive gear (grey colored). Carefully reinstall the shaft and press on the retainer ring. I lube my gears and shafts with the white MB sunroof lube. I can provide some pictures when I rebuild the next one. A good tip for keeping the

A good tip for keeping the numbers in place when you remove the shaft is to get a drill bit about the same diameter and slide it in from the other side as you pull the shaft out.
