89 300e doesn't run well when cold.

I have an 89 300e and when it's cold it acts like a carburated car, you can floor the gas and it just won't go. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thanks

How does it run when hot?

I will need a little more information to help you diagnose your cold start problem. How does it run when it is hot? What kind of fuel mileage are you currently getting? When it starts up cold are you getting any black smoke? If you don't know you might want to have someone look while you start the engine cold. What parts if any have you replaced recently?

300e doesen't run well when cold

Josh Miller The car runs great when it's warm, it's just when it's cold you can have it to the floor and you're only going 30 mph. As far as gas mileage I'm getting 400 miles to the tank. There isn't any black smoke when I start it either although I do smell that it is running a little rich. The parts that I have replaced on the car are just standard tune up stuff: Plugs, wires, cap, rotor, belt, air filter, fuel filter, and fuel hose. I forgot to mention the car has a slight stumble when idling not really a miss just a stumble every now and then. Any insight you can give me is very much appreciated. Thanks very much.

Check fuel pressure first

Unfortunately, there is just not one thing that I can point to that might be causing the problem. And you DO NOT want to start "throwing new parts" at the problem. Some of the parts that could be causing it are very expensive. The best way to diagnose this type of fuel delivery problem is to do a full fuel pressure test on the engine. This includes checking the pressure with the engine hot, the engine cold, and an overnight pressure leak down test. Most owners are not able to do this on their own so I would find a qualified mechanic to do this diagnostic test for you. In most cases the results of this test will point you towards the faulty component(s).
