diesel injector washer sizing?

Well, this is amusing. So far I found three different hole sizes. 5 mm, 8 mm, and 10 mm. The 10 mm ones are from mercedessource. Are all three sizes acceptable and which would you recommend based purely on performance?

The sizing is not intended to be the same for all MBZ diesel engines. The 8 mm are recommended for the later 60x engines. I have only seen a few 5 mm used on the really old diesels of the 1950's. I understand that both 8 and 10 mm are used on 617 diesels. You won't notice any difference in performance on a low mileage tight engine. I prefer to use the 10 mm on the 617s based on my experience of pulling lots and lots of injectors. The larger diameter hole tends to do a better job of spreading out the coking (common on higher mileage worn engines) that collects around the injector tip - thus providing a better spray pattern for a longer period of time and prolonging the service intervals between injector tip cleaning.
