My mother's 76 300D has started to make a squealing sound when the car is turned. It seems to be temperature sensitive in that it has started and is worse now in the colder weather. It does not squeal when it first leaves the heated garage. My first thought was a loose belt as I had replaced all the belts 2 months ago. I did tighten it, even though it was not very loose. My only experience in pumps going bad is that they start to leak. Can a bad pump start to turn hard and make the belt squeal? She said it only makes the noise when turning, but will continue for a short period after wheels are straight.
Thanks for any thoughts you have.
