Can't Open Hood Because the Release Cable is Broken

There is a way to do it without damaging anything on many older models

It happens all too often now that most of these upright grill models are getting pretty old. The cable can break at the release handle, break at the hood latch, or the end fitting can break due to fatigue. If your model ( from the mid-1960's up to the early 1990's) has the hood latch in the middle of the core support (in front of the radiator) and has a grill screen that you can work through then there is hope.
