You attach these to your 300D, 300CD, 300TD, 5-cylinder engine and turn the engine over with the starter motor for cleaning and testing. These can be used for various purposes. This is the best way to determine if the injection pump will perform properly for old 4-cylinder diesel engines that have not been run in years. It will also allow you to purge (clean out) old gummed-up injection pumps. And, finally, you can test for equal flow from the pump by measuring the quantities of fuel in each bottle. You will get five clear hoses, each 12 inches long, attached to five small clear bottles to catch and measure flow. Use the levels in all the bottles to determine if the flow is equal. NEVER USE GASOLINE to clean or test the pump in this manner. Kent prefers 80 percent carb cleaner and 20 percent automatic transmission fluid as a cleaning agent and a straight diesel fuel for testing.
The bottles are vented at the top lip to prevent pressure build-up. Attachment is via a push-on silicone tube and hose clamps as shown below. The included on-demand video instructions provide examples of how to use this kit.
