Kent originally wrote this manual to go along with our 617 Turbo Diesel Front Crank Seal Replacement Kit as well as our 616 and 617 NON Turbo Crank Seal Kit. We have found that many of you are having problems with your front crank bolt loosening up or bolts sheering off at the front engine pulleys. This is becoming more common as these old diesels age and is primarily due to excess vibration caused by a poorly tuned engine.
This guide will not only show you how to replace the front seal, but it will also give you the information you need to check the torque on the front bolt. WARNING: IF YOU HAVE NOT DONE THIS, YOU MAY BE SORRY. Please click here to see my TECH HELP on this problem. This booklet will show you the easiest way to remove and replace your lower front pulleys and crank counterbalance plate.
This short guide is 11 pages long with 32 illustrations. The information could save you hundreds of dollars and avoid a serious breakdown on a road trip.
