This piston is not new but in excellent used condition. This is the early style with the narrow nylon piston ring. A new sealing ring is included. If you B2 is damaged on your 1981 to 1989 722.3 transmission and you can not find a new upgrade, then this might be your best option

If you have the older style  B2  piston with the aluminum sleeve, the most important thing is to replace the sleeve with a nylon one which is included in this kit you do have to remove the seal in order to replace the sleeve, so both are included. It is the aluminum sleeve that binds on the piston that causes most of the problems with the B2. Get rid of the aluminum sleeve!!!

Location of the B2

The kit includes:

  • Genuine Nylon sleeve replacement
  • Genuine piston seal (install flat face going in)
  • New large piston outer sealing ring (you install)
  • B2 cover O-ring

The piston will come out easily by hand with no special tools. But the removal of the internal sleeve and seal will require some type of puller. A slide hammer is the quickest and easiest, as you do not need to remove the pan and the valve body.

WARNING: You will not be able to remove the old sleeve and seal without a special tool. We offer a quick and easy-to-use slide hammer tool that will not damage the transmission case. See related products below to order separately.

722.3 B2 Piston Repair Kit

New Pistons are NLA. This will only work if you have a piston with the wide seal around the outside edge. Inspect you B2 BEFORE ordering

Since new B2 pistons are no longer being made, repairing your old one is your only option. The very early version with the narrow sealing ring on the outside of the piston is not repairable. You piston MUST have the wide ring as shown. Video installation instructions are included.

We modified this slide hammer puller set in our shop so it will work in removing two key components in the 722.3 and 722.4 automatic transmissions. Getting the B2 piston and sleeve out of the case can be a real bear without this tool. With it, it comes out quickly and easily.
